How It All Began
I am Cathy Schuberth, M.S.W., the founder and owner of Green with Envy Interior Decorating, LLC. As a child, I grew up in a family in which conservation was an important value. Conserving water, reusing items, and living sustainably were part of my everyday life. Most importantly, I learned that I am a citizen of this world and consequently, my actions affect others. From this background, it is no surprise that I became a social worker. Social work is about recognizing that all of life is interconnected, that focusing on the strengths of people or a situation is the most powerful tool, and that empowering people creates change. Using these tools, social workers work to alleviate social, political and economic problems. Global warming is one of the greatest social, political and economic problems of our generation.
After ten years of working in social work, policy and nonprofit management, and after a lifetime of repurposing items into beautiful treasures, decorating my own homes and the homes of family, friends and neighbors, I decided to combine my social work skills, my entrepreneurial spirit, my creativity and keen design sense. After studying interior decorating, I founded Green with Envy Interior Decorating, LLC in early 2007. My skills of active listening and mediation come in handy when ensuring that a space reflects who the persons are that inhabit it.
I also offer classes because it is a passion of mine to share my knowledge with others on how to create living and working environments that are beautiful, reflect your personality and are healthy for people, animals and the planet.
